One of the most common questions I get as a dietitian exam tutor is "When should I schedule my exam?"
A lot of people think that they should just grab the first date after they graduate from their dietetic internship to "just get it done"
OR
They schedule it for 4 weeks from their exam without thinking if this is the gold amount of time...
Before schedule your dietitian exam there are 3 questions that you need to ask yourself:
1) How much have you prepared before this moment in time
2) What will your schedule be like over the next few weeks
3) How many topics on the exam do you know that you struggle with and will need extra time to review
The answers to these questions will be different for everyone so you shouldn't schedule your exam date at a time just because your friend is waiting _ weeks to the exam or because your DI director told you to take it in _ weeks after finishing.
If you take the exam too soon you are going to end up having to pay another $200 and have to wait 45 days. When in doubt...push it out!
To help prepare for the RD exam I started casually reviewing the Jean Inman and Pocket Prep questions about 4 months before I was due to finish my DI. Then about a month out from finishing I spent my weekends making study guides for the exam. Then I finished my DI and...
I WENT ON A 9 DAY VACATION (to Barcelona and Sevilla Spain, 10/10 recommend)
When I got back it was 2 weeks until my exam. During this time I did not work and spent 4-6 hours per day studying.
I took my exam and passed on Feb 12th, 2020! You can do it too and a key part of this is making sure you go into your studying (whether it be you 1st or 5th time taking the exam) with an effective plan!)
