Top 5 Reasons to Join a Group RD Prep Class

Updated: Mar 23, 2022

Have you joined any RD Exam group tutoring classes? Group classes are one of my favorite things to recommend to students who want to shake up their studying and here are my top 5 reasons to join a group class!

Accountability:

Signing up and paying for a class helps to make sure you are going to actually complete a review of that topic. As much as we want to be regimented and hold ourselves accountable in our independent studying, it's a lot easier to lose focus when you are on your own. To help you stay the most focused in classes I recommend you keep your camera on and trying to answer all the questions to stay engaged.

To Test Out a Tutor:

With so many great tutors with a variety of class offerings and teaching styles, it is a great idea to try out a tutor before your purchase a program. Taking a group class is a great way to try a tutor out.

Affordability:

The group nature of the class allows the price of the session to be much lower than a 1:1 session. I typically recommend that my students attend group classes in between our session to get in extra review sessions without breaking the bank.

Community:

Studying for this exam can be a lonely journey. Depending on where you are in your studying people some of your internship cohort may have already passes and it is difficult to explain to family/friends why studying for this exam is difficult if they aren't in the field. Coming to weekly classes helps you to connect with students who are in the same place you are and also gives you access to a tutor to keep you supported through your journey.

Study Materials:

A big benefit of coming to classes is the materials you receive. The combination of the slides and notes you take during the class will serve as a great resource for you as you are studying without you having to do all the research to make that lesson yourself. Most classes will also likely include a study guide or other resource for you. (Very dependent on the program, but you will always get slides with my classes!)

Sold on group classes, but not sure off my offers? I have 2 group tutoring options:

#1 Monthly Tutoring Group: This is a 4 week structured course of 1.5hr lives classes (Mondays 8-9:30pest) each week, homework assignments, study guides and weekly email check ins! (April Group enrollment is now open)

#2 Wednesday Small Group Tutoring Sessions: Each week I host a class on Wednesdays at 8p EST. Classes cover both topics and practice questions and are 1-1.5 hours in length depend on the topic. Registration includes the live class, slides, resources and a 50% off coupon to the recorded class. Best way to see the schedule is to sign up for the newsletter or check out the Small Group Tutoring Page
