Student Interview with Alex, RD

The best moment as a tutor is getting the "I Passed" selfies! This week we are catching up with my past student Alex who just passed her exam! Alex used a combination of private tutoring, the May monthly group (with the Signature Self-Paced Course add on) and Wednesday small group tutoring classes.

What made you choose to work with Dana?

I found Dana the night I failed my 4th exam. I was very discouraged, I really didn't know what else to do, I needed some guidance. I had just started my job as a Dietitian and now I had 6 months to pass the exam before I lost my job and I was already a month and a half into my deadline or I would've lost my job. I contacted Dana that night and she responded within 30 minutes and I knew from her quick communication that I wanted to work with her.

How did you find the exam? Which topics did you find most difficult? Was it what you expected?

I found the exam much more manageable, I had never made it past quest 125 but this time I did and I got a lot of confidence from knowing I was doing better. I also went into the exam with a lot less testing anxiety than I had in my previous exams. The topics I found most difficult were the MNT specifically remembering the needs for each disease state, the sources for the vitamins and minerals, and the agencies and what they regulate. Since this wasn't my first time taking the exam I knew what I was going into.

What aspects of this course were most useful or valuable?

The 1-on-1 sessions and the signature self paced course were by far the most helpful for me because I have a full time job. Dana was very open and willing to work with my tight schedule which was extremely helpful. I also benefited greatly from the study assessment where she created a study schedule for me that I could actually follow.

What is your review of your classes/sessions with Dana?

I cannot speak highly enough about Dana. I truly believe she is a large part of why I passed my exam this time. I was on my 5th attempt with them exam and feeling very discouraged. I participated in group classes, 1-on-1 sessions, and the self paced course and all of them were helpful. Dana had a large variety of practice questions and the self paced course had a video for everything. I have a full time job so the self paced course was a big asset to me, I could watch a 10 or 20 minute video during lunch then an hour long video after work and complete the assignments that go along with it. She also has a way of explaining everything that was easy for me to grasp and she was always quick to respond to emails and answer questions. I wish I had found her sooner but I'm so thankful I found her when I did!
