My Favorite Budget Friendly RD Exam Prep Materials

Updated: Jun 28

Studying for the RD exam can be expensive so I'm breaking down my top 5 budget friendly, but quality RD Exam prep resources here!

Podcasts

With our busy schedules we often don't have time to sit down and watch a video or read over our notes, but we often have time to listen to a podcast. Listening to RD Exam prep podcasts is a great way to get additional exposure to the material and is something I like to suggest to my students to turn on during their drives or at the gym to sneak in some extra studying. Don't forget to note any trouble areas and go back over these topics when you are having your more focused study time. Check out my podcast Dietetics with Dana (now >130 episodes) where I review practice questions and study tips!

My favorite thing to have my students use the Facebook pages for is to ask for clarifications questions on and answer practice questions. This is especially helpful Inman questions because they don't have any explanations, but you may also find yourself still stuck on a question even after you read the explanation and this is also a great reason to post on the Facebook page. Something to be careful of is make sure you are getting explanations from a reliable source. This is why I personally answer & review all of the posed to my Facebook page during my free 15-20 minute Sunday night lives (weekly at 8pest) questions.

This app is one of my must have RD Exam Prep materials because it is a great price (use this link to get 20% off $13 for 1 month), it is customizable and the explanations are great! I recommend my students complete at least 1 set of 50 questions off Pocket Prep per week to help me benchmark their progress. I recommend working to improve your scores to around an 80-85% on 50+ questions to best prepare you for the exam!

Group classes are one of my favorite things to recommend to students, not only because they are much cheaper than 1:1 tutoring sessions, but also because they have the added bonus of accountability and community! Each weekly I host a small group tutoring class on Wednesdays at 8pest and topics switch between practice questions and exam topics. Classes are limited to 15 students to allow you to ask any questions you have. Class schedule is here. Wednesday classes are includes for Signature Course students!

Just like group classes, recorded courses are also cheaper than 1:1 tutoring and come with an added bonus of allowing your to get tutoring on your schedule. You can enjoy a 3-day free trial of my courses by clicking here. If you have several trouble areas that you want to use recorded classes to review, I recommend checking out my bundles (Situational, MNT, Practice Questions) to get the best deal! Average cost of a class is $25 and includes 2 weeks of unlimited access.
