Today the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) sent out an email announcing 3 changes to the Registered Dietitian (RD) Exam.
1) Extended Exam Time (Starts 3/15): The exam will be extended by 30 minutes for a total of 3 hours.
DJF Take: This is great because timing can be an issue for many students who aren't eligible for accommodations. I would still aim for about a minute per questions on average and use the extra 30 minutes to take a break during the exam or pause after a tricky question gets you frustrated.
2) Increased Test Fee (6/1): The exam will increase to $225 per attempt.
DJF Take: I know this is annoying, but I can't say it is surprising given inflation in general and it has been $200 since I took the exam in 2020.
3) CDR Test Bunded (3/15): 2 packs of RD exam attempts can be purchased at $325 (~$165 per test).
DJF Take: The cost issue is that the exam attempt is $225. This bundle is going to make retaking the test $100 vs having to pay another $225. As a tutor I always recommend that students wait to take their exam until they are ready vs planning to fail and retake, but this could be a good option if you want to think of the extra $100 as insurance on your test. Truly depends on your financial situation.
